CYIA Study Questions for Turned Around

Instructions

In order to prepare for teaching this summer, there are five sets of questions.

There are sections related to the Bible lesson, Mission story anddverses and truths you should know.

Pace yourself – perhaps one set a week. It will give you a chance to think about what you are learning.

Find a quiet place to sit down with your Bible and Mission story text. You can download the lesson texts. Check with your local director for the full text.

If you need to leave before you have submitted the form, click the "Save" button at the bottom of the page. An email will then be sent with a link to return for you to return to it and continue.

Bible Lesson 3 - Noah
I. Read the Bible passage through at least three times and record your observations.
1. Read the passage straight through. Summarize your thoughts and impressions.
2. Read the passage a second time and list all of the characters mentioned. Take a few minutes to think about the characters and list some of the feelings they probably experienced during the story [fearful, skeptical, sad, ecstatic, ashamed, proud, embarrassed, angry, etc.]
3. Answer the study questions based on the scripture

Scripture: Genesis 6-8, 2 Peter 2:5
A. Read the Bible passage through and write down your thoughts and first impressions.*
B. Read the passage a second time and list the characters mentioned.

Take a few minutes to think about the characters and list some of the feelings they probably experienced during the story [fearful, skeptical, sad, ecstatic, ashamed, proud, embarrassed, angry, etc.]. Also consider descriptive action (quickly, immediately, came near, etc.)
List the characters and their emotions and actions. Add a new row for each emotion or action. Be sure to save your responses before going on to the next question*

Everyone should answer these questions
1. What was the condition of the people before the flood?*
2. What did God decide to do?*
3. Whom did God choose to save from this destruction?*
4. Describe the ark God told Noah to build.*
5. As he built the ark, what else was Noah doing? (See 2 Peter 2:5.)*
6. What do you think people thought about Noah building a big ark when it had never even rained on Earth before?*
7. Why do you think so few people were willing to follow God’s way?*
8. What was to be destroyed in this flood?*
9. What was Noah to bring into the ark with him?*
10. How long were Noah and his family in the ark before it began to rain?*
11. How long did it rain?*
12. How old was Noah when the flood occurred?*
13. Where did all the water come from?*
14. How much of the Earth was covered?*
15. How many days of blowing wind did it take for the flood to go down so the ark rested on Mt. Ararat?*
16. What happened the first time Noah sent a dove out from the ark?The second time? The third time?*
17. How long were Noah and his family in the ark? (Compare 7:7, 10-11 and 8:13-14.)*
18. What did Noah and his family do when they got off the ark?*
19. What did God promise?*
20.Think about it: Noah could have let peer pressure stop him but he didn’t. He obeyed God no matter how stupid he looked to everyone else around him. To what extent are you willing to obey God? Have you allowed peer pressure to keep you from obeying God? Choose today to do what God says, no matter what those around you think, say, or do.*
21. Noah raised his children to live for the Lord in a society that was totally corrupt. His sons did not have Christian friends or a church youth group for fellowship. Noah’s family members were the only ones on the whole Earth who followed God. Just as God could help Noah’s family live for Him in that setting, He can help you live for Him even if your high school is the most corrupt school in the nation, and even if you are the only Christian there. List some ways you need God’s help to live for Him and obey Him.*
